How To Host A Honey Tasting Party

by | | 0 comment(s)

Why should wine enthusiasts get to have all the fun? Celebrate the distinctive tastes of honey by setting up a honey flight and hosting a honey tasting party for your friends.

Choose Your Honey

You’ll want to focus on 3 or 4 different honey varietals. Decide if you want guests to cleanse their palate between tastings using wine, coffee, tea or water.

Presentation

Pour each flavor of honey into its own ramekin or small serving bowl. Each guest can either have their own honey flight or you could set the honey flight up family-style with everyone serving themselves from the same bowls.

Provide one plate per guest and depending on which honey flight set up option you choose you’ll want more or less spoons to allow for the tasting.

Pairings

Feed your friends foods that compliment honey. A sampling of the following small snacks is suggested:

  • Walnuts
  • Almonds
  • Pears
  • Grapes
  • Cheese
  • Roasted carrots

Notes and Discussion

Write down all the elements of each honey you were able to pick out. Give your guests pen and paper and have them write down a description of what they tasted, the color of the honey, the texture and how it smelled (does honey have a smell? Let’s find out!).

Once everyone has had a chance to write down their thoughts, share your discoveries. You might just find your new favorite flavor of honey!
